Vintage Red Bandana - Paisley Dance

I'll paraphrase a line from one of the great books by G. Bruce Boyer when he said something along the lines of; "Men don't know what to do with the empty space at their necks when not wearing a tie". It's true, especially in Summertime. To help fill that void at the neck and look good doing it, I adopted a style seen by a lot of other stylish men and started to wear a rolled up bandana rolled around my neck. Think less bankrobber, more shoestring. The bandana was special, of course. Sourced by a good friend of mine and one of the most knowledgeable people in menswear, I bought from him a vintage bandana. The simple 100% cotton accessory is now a staple in my warm weather wardrobe helping to fill the empty space at my neck and also adding a touch of style during a time of the year when most men are wearing synthetic fabrics or shedding layers altogether. It can be intimidating at first, but so was wearing your navy blazer outside of the workplace. My advice? Keep it simple. I wear mine anytime in the Summer when I have an open collar shirt on. Not wearing a button-down? -No problem, I've also worn them with tee shirts and a sport coat for a nautical inspired look. The bandana is a subtle accessory that can go a long way and it'll make G. Bruce happy.
